A Bit Late For A Warm Welcome

A Bit Late For A Warm Welcome, But Hear Me Out

Hillel’s done a great job on this series, don’t you think?

His welcome email – absolutely sababa!

If you Google sababa, you’ll learn that it’s used to show enthusiasm or happiness. And, if you remember my prior email in this series, you’ll remember that I used pizootz, which comes down to the positive ‘fire!’.

I don’t speak Hebrew at all, but for the sake of this series I took the time to learn how to empathize with Hillel’s background and a large part of his audience. Not that I must gain something from it, but it makes the emails a bit more unique.

In this little anecdote lies the core of what a welcome email should be all about.

Know who reads it.

Know WHY they signed up for your newsletter, created an account with your software, or got into the bonus program you’re running.

The welcome email you’re sending after someone signed up for your service should be all about the recipient and what they are about to experience. Make sure you’re on the same page. Throw in some GIFs or brouhaha. Make a list of things your subs can expect. And don’t forget: They signed up to something because of you or the thing you’re selling. Use that!

It’s not rocket science to create a good welcome email. But put in the effort and make sure no recipient experiences cognitive dissonance after they signed up. That’s another fancy term for you to Google.

That’s all for today.
Happy sending 📬,
Tom Blijleven from Flowmailer
